Decontructivist Architechture

I started this entry around Valentine's Day, which is where I got the inspiration for the design of my building. I knew a broken heart would exemplify deconstructivist architecture and I could a picture how I wanted the end design to look like, but I was worried about being able to present my ideas accurately with pen and paper. I discovered a great 3D modeling software called SketchUp, and spent all weekend becoming familiar with the different building tools. After many hours of trial and error, I was finally satisfied with how my building turned out. I wanted it to feel as if the heart was falling apart and the only thing keeping it together were the arteries. Functionally, I thought the artieries would provide a quick and easy way to get from building to building if this were a real structure. Below, are pictures I took of the First Baptist Dallas Sanctuary in downtown Dallas which features decontructivist architecture. That metallic roof section of the church is the material I would want my building to covered in. Large cities would benefit from having more buildings in their cities look like these, because it adds to the charater of the cityscape.
