Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Art Heist
On March 18, 1990, a pair of men disguised as police officers stole thirteen works of art, which are estimated to be worth $500 million. The stolen pieces included works from Vermeer, Rembrandt, Degas, Manet and Flinck. To this day, after more than 25 years, the case remains open and has been unsolved. I find the case to be fascinating and also disheartening that after all these years these stolen paints have not been recovered. I hope that the works are still in good enough condition to be return and that hopefully one day within my lifetime they will be returned to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts.
