Entertaining Art?

Motorcycles are something for me that blur the lines between art, entertainment, engineering and design. Motorcycles have a massive supporting culture worldwide and are enjoyed by many different types of people. The biggest question is whether these machines can be considered art, or are they just dangerous modes of transportation. Motorcycles aren't created for the sole purpose of being looked at, or to be added to the permanent collection of an art museums, but there are museums for motorcycles and they are appreciated for the emotions they create. The design among different styles and models of motorcycles varies but this is similar to different artists. For example, Ducatis are from Italy and all of their design and asthetics is considered before their bikes are manufactured. They are built for going fast and every detail matters. Compare that to Harley Davidsons which are large and heavy "cruisers", they aren't looked at under the same microscope that the Ducatis are. I think that the engineers that design these machines spend hours putting in effort to make the details important and I think this is similar to what a painter would do when he or she is adding brush strokes of different colors to bring their paintings to life.
